New Polycarbonate Film Forms Innovative In-Mold Electronics Component

DuraTech’s Rob King shares how Covestro’s new polycarbonate film was successfully used for one of our in-mold electronics (IME) component in this June 3, 2019 press release from Covestro.

In summary

“Covestro is introducing a new formable, textured polycarbonate film called Makrofol SR906 7-2 that is capped with an acrylic layer to offer high scratch and chemical resistance while being easy to process. The new material offers excellent graphics capabilities and can be used in a variety of applications including appliances, automotive, consumer, and industrial. The new film is being used by Grayhill to create in-mold electronics for industrial controls and by DuraTech Industries to produce custom graphics, overlays, and pressure-sensitive products. The use of this grade of polycarbonate film in the in-mold process offers advantages over traditional circuit board production, including significant weight and space reduction, reduced costs, and time and expense savings.”
